The sauna is an integral part of many cultures and is highly valued due to its health benefits. From relaxation of the muscles to improving blood circulation, there are numerous reasons why regular saunas are part of a healthy lifestyle. It is important to note that many different types of saunas are available - ultimately the personal feeling decides what kind of heat or heat does.
Why is sauna healthy?
- Relaxation of the muscles: going to the sauna helps to loosen tense muscles and reduce stress. The heat and sweating help to relax the muscles and to promote the physical (and thus also the mental) relaxation.
- Improvement of blood circulation: The change between heat and cold in the sauna promotes blood circulation by expanding the blood vessels. The oxygen supply of the organs and muscles is improved and the general health of the cardiovascular system is supported.
- Detoxification of the body: The strong sweating in the sauna excretes toxins and excess slags out of the body, which leads to detoxification and cleaning of the body.
- Strengthening the immune system: Regular saunas can support the immune system by promoting the production of white blood cells and thus strengthening the body's defenses against diseases.
- Stress reduction and mental relaxation: Saunation can also help to reduce stress and achieve mental relaxation. The sauna offers a calm and almost meditative atmosphere that is a welcome break from hectic everyday life for many.
What types of sauna are there?
- Finnish sauna: The Finnish sauna is perhaps the best known type of sauna and is characterized by dry heat. A Finnish sauna is usually made of wood and reaches temperatures of around 80 to 100 degrees Celsius.
- Steam sauna: The steam sauna differs significantly from the Finnish sauna. Instead of dry heat, moist heat is generated in this. The air humidity in a steam sauna can be up to 100%, while the temperatures are typically between 40 and 60 degrees Celsius.
- Infrared sauna: infrared saunas do not heat the air, but use infrared rays to heat the body from the inside. At temperatures between 30 and 60 degrees Celsius, this type of sauna is often perceived as particularly gentle.
- BioSauna: The bio sauna offers an exciting combination of the dry heat of a Finnish sauna and the increased air humidity of a steam sauna. The temperature in a bio sauna is usually between 46 and 60 degrees Celsius, the air humidity is around 40% to 55%.
